The Adventures of Hamlet Continue…

StalkingI forgot to fill the cats’ bowl this morning with dry food. I remembered this on my way to work. I had given them their breakfast, a can of Fancy Feast, so wasn’t too concerned. I knew they wouldn’t starve…Hamlet wasn’t so sure.

Walking in the door after a long day at work, I noticed an odd smell, vaguely reminiscent of wet poultry. I turned on the light, closed the dining room window and went to turn on the heater when I discovered the source of the smell. Hamlet had brought home dinner. There on the living room floor was a bird, or what remained of a bird, surrounded by feathers spread all over the carpet. He had neatly plucked it (or not so neatly) and stood by my side gazing at his prize. He looked up at me with a serene expression.

I thanked him and cleaned up the mess. Hopefully he thinks I ate it.

  • I bet he was so proud of himself. I once found a crow skeleton and feathers under my bed when I moved it. Apparently Beemer brought it in while I was away having brain surgery or I’m sure I’d have smelled it! ;)

  • Wow! A crow is a big bird. He must be one tough cat!

I love this story. At the other place I lived my then boyfriend came home to 3 rooms filled with blood and feather. He called and left me a voice mail on my cell telling me he had only one thing to say. Ick, ick, ick. I was so glad I wasn’t home to have to clean it up. I’d say with that big of a bird you have a real hunter there and he truly loved you to catch something so big!

  • Thank you! What do you like best about it?
