The Patrol

This one was tough. Coming up with an image to fit the text was a challenge. When I finally got away from thinking “Marine” and started thinking of other types of patrols I immediately thought of Meerkats. They always have scouts posted to protect the clan while they forage. Adding the Marine Helmet tied the image to the text.

I love the Meerkat’s relaxed attitude, which is what this type of patrol was all about.

The Last Lion

I photographed this lion in a zoo. I felt his expression truly portrayed the plight of the lion today. It’s been said that lions may disappear from the wild within a decade.

Stalker

Hamlet is always my best model. All my other animals follow me everywhere and get right in my face when I try to take their picture, but Hamlet will actually pose AND follows instructions.

In this shot I told him to hide behind the “blue” bushes and he did, resulting in this shot.

Although the camels all look eager while in the paddock, some of them change their mind once the gates open. Handlers try to guide them in the right direction, but this camel wasn’t having any of it and complained about it loudly!

I think I actually got all 8 hoofs off the ground, but even blown up, I can’t be sure that the far rear hoof isn’t touching the ground. You decide.

The Far Turn

What makes this shot is the jockey in the center with his whip raised. It creates a great feeling of tension and excitement. Used as screen saver on my 24″ monitor it is a powerful and energizing image.
